King

Finance & Operations Intern

Before joining Bridging Barriers, I lacked practical experience and struggled to stand out in job applications, despite wanting to build a career in operations and finance. The internship changed that completely. I gained hands-on experience using Xero and Excel to complete reconciliations, prepare cash flow reports and draft stakeholder updates, and I was trusted to develop a reserves policy, which built my confidence, professionalism and ability to communicate with senior leaders. That combination of technical skills, real responsibility and belief in my potential transformed my CV and self-belief — so much so that when I applied for a cleaning role, the employer instead selected me for their new Graduate Scheme. I have since secured a job offer in operational management, and the internship was the foundation that made that possible.

Kiran

Marketing Intern

After graduating, I had the opportunity to join Bridging Barriers as a digital marketing intern, where I was able to contribute to a charity with a meaningful mission whilst gaining valuable experience in marketing. The support I received helped me build confidence and develop core skills in content, communication, and event support. This opportunity helped me land my first PR internship, where I further developed my skills in media relations, campaign development, and client social media management in a fast-paced agency environment. These experiences ultimately led to an internship at Universal Music, where I’ve been able to apply the knowledge and skills I gained whilst contributing to an industry I’ve always been passionate about. The support I received from Kevin and Bridging Barriers made it possible to work in a company I never imagined I could be part of.
